You must draw a picture to represent six of events on your timeline.
Chapter 23 (p. 526-527)
- The French and American Revolution inspired similar revolutions in South America and the Caribbean. Shade the wars of independence in Latin America and make sure to include it in a key.
- Mark when England abolished the slave trade on your timeline.
- Britain’s most notable colonial effort in Asia was in China. The British flooded the country with the drug, opium. When China banned it, the British declared war. Draw a point and shade in the First and Second Opium War in China.
- The Opium Wars ended with the Treaty of Nanjing. Next to the point on the timeline, make sure to write what the Treaty of Nanjing did.
- Shade and label when the American Civil War occurred (ended in 1865)
- The Russian Empire saw a massive expansion of its territory in Asia and Europe. Shade the Crimean War and make sure to include it in a key.
- One of the most significant events in European history is the formation of the German and Prussian States into a unified country. Mark the German unification.
- The project of the century to link the Red Sea and the Mediterranean was the Suez Canal. Mark and label this on your timeline.
